Benzoyl–carbene coupling by [CpM(COPh)(CO)2{[double bond, length half m-dash]C(CH2)3NMe}](M = Mo, W)

Abstract

Treatment of the anions [CpM{[double bond, length half m-dash][graphic omitted]Me}(CO)2](M = Mo or W) with PhC([double bond, length half m-dash]O)Cl results in the corresponding η1-benzoyls [CpM(η1-COPh){[double bond, length half m-dash][graphic omitted]Me}(CO)2] which undergo benzoyl–carbene coupling, most likely through 1,2-migrations of benzoyl to carbene, in forming the complexes [Cp[graphic omitted]Me}(CO)2].
