Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of the rhenium(VII)tert-butylimido compound, [Re(NBut)2(η1-C5H5)]2(µ-C5H4)(µ-O)

Abstract

The interaction of NaC₅H₅ in tetrahydrofuran with a diethyl ether solution of Re(NBu^t)₃Cl gives rise to a compound [Re(NBu^t)₂(η¹-C₅H₅)]₂(µ-C₅H₄)(µ-O) that has fluxional η¹-C₅H₅ groups, non-equivalent Bu^tN groups and a unique bridging C₅H₄ group; the structure has been elucidated by X-ray crystallography.
