The bromination of some B-norandrost-5-enes. X-Ray molecular structure of 17β-acetoxy-4β,6α-dibromo-5β-methyl-7,19-dinorandrost-9(10)-ene

Abstract

Bromination of 17β-acetoxy-7-norandrost-5-ene gave 17β-acetoxy-6-bromo-7-norandrost-5-ene and a rearrangement product, 17β-acetoxy-4β,6α-dibromo-5β-methyl-7,19-dinorandrost-9(10)-ene, the structure of which was established by X-ray crystallography. Bromination of 3β-hydroxy-7-norandrost-5-en-17-one gave 6-bromo-7-norandrosta-3,5-dien-17-one and 6-bromo-3β-hydroxy-7-norandrost-5-en-17-one.
