Ionic enthalpies of transfer in acetonitrile–water mixtures

Abstract

The enthalpies of solution of Ph4AsCl, NaBPh4, NaCl, NaClO4, Et4NCl and Et4NClO4 have been measured in acetonitrile(AN)–water mixtures over the whole range of solvent composition. Based on the tetrapheylarsonium tetraphenylborate (TATB) assumption, the enthalpies of transfer of individual ions have been determined. The results are discussed in terms of the properties of the ions and the solvents.
