Infrared study of nitric oxide adsorption on a chromia/AlPO4 ethene polymerisation catalyst

Abstract

The interaction of NO with chromia supported on AIPO4, phosphated alumina and alumina has been studied by infrared spectroscopy. Several different types of site have been identified for chromia on each support. The nature of the sites was strongly influenced by the presence of phosphate which increases the range of different electronic environments in which chromium ions exist on the catalyst surface.
