Mixing of alkanes with surfactant monolayers at the air–water surface

Abstract

The mixing of alkanes with adsorbed surfactant layers at oil/water interfaces is well known, but not defined quantitatively. Here we describe in quantitative terms the mixing of a non-spreading liquid alkane with surfactant monolayers at the air–water surface.
