Abstract

Treatment of [V(NH2NHPh)2(salen)]I, [VO(salen)][salen =N,N′-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminate)], or a mixture of [VCl3(thf)3](thf = tetrahydrofuran) and salicylaldehyde with anhydrous hydrazine under various conditions gives [V(OC6H4CHNNH2)3], tris(salicylaldehyde hydrazonato)vanadium(III), of which the crystal structure is described.
