Simultaneous coordination of the endo- and exo-conformations of a crown thioether ligand to a single metal centre; synthesis and structure of [Ag(L1)2][CF3SO3], where L1= 2,5,8-trithia[9]ortho-benzenophane

Abstract

[Ag(L1)2][CF3SO3] is the first example of a complex which contains both the free ligand exo- and the fully organized endo-conformations of a crown thioether ligand; 1H NMR spectroscopy shows evidence for the facile metal-promoted interconversion of these conformations.
