Nucleophilic attack by O or N upon reaction of chloromethylplatinum(II) phosphine complexes with MeOH–Me2NCH(OMe)2; X-ray structure of [(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)Pt(CH2)2NMe2]+PF6

Abstract

MeOH–Me2NCH(OMe)2 reacts with trans-(R3P)2Pt(CH2Cl)Cl (R = c-C6H11 or Et) to give the methoxymethyl complexes trans-(R3P)2Pt(CH2OMe)Cl, and with Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2Pt(CH2Cl)2(n= 2, 3 or 4) to give the 3-platina-azetidinium salts [Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2Pt(CH2)2NMe2]+Cl(n= 2, 3 or 4); reaction of Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2Pt(CH2Cl)2 with isopropylamine gives the 3-platina-azetidine.
