Synthesis and crystal structure of a complex in which a single macrocyclic ligand binds six cuII centres in a cyclohexane boat arrangement

Abstract

The hexa Schiff base macrocycle formed by condensation of three molecules of 2, 6-diformyl-4-methylphenol with three molecules of 2, 6-bis(aminomethyl)-4-methylphenol binds six copper(II) ions in a cyclohexane boat arrangement with two µ2-hydroxo groups (O ⋯ O separation 3.32 Å) occupying the central cavity.
