Room temperature activation of an aliphatic C–H bond: synthesis and structure of the ruthenium clusters [(µ2-H)Ru3(CO)8(µ3-S)(η2-CH2CMe2NHCNHBut)] and [(µ2-H)Ru3(CO)9{µ3-S-Ru(CO)3(η2-CH2CMe2NHCNHBut)}]
Abstract
The thiourea derivative (Me3CNH)2CS reacts with [Ru3(CO)12] in tetrahydrofuran with CS bond cleavage and oxidative addition of the non-activated C–H bond of a peripheral methyl group; the reaction proceeds in the dark at room temperature.
