Determination of β-propiolactone by infrared spectrometry

Abstract

A method is described for the determination of β-propiolactone (BPL) by infrared spectrometry. Extraction of the analyte from aqueous solutions, including serum, is described. The method is shown to be precise. The inherent instability of BPL and its effect on reproducibility are discussed.
