Synthesis of (±)-benzoleukotriene B3: a novel leukotriene B4 analogue

Abstract

As part of a program to identify therapeutically effective leukotriene B4-antagonists, we have synthesized benzoleukotriene B3 in which the Z-6,7 double bond of LTB4 has been replaced by a phenyl group. The synthesis relies heavily on palladium(0)-mediated vinylstannane/vinyl halide coupling reactions.
