Bifunctional chelating agents, part 3: 4,5-bis[di(carboxymethyl)amino]-N(aminoalkyl)valeramide, an EDTA with an amine functionality and amide-type linker arm

Abstract

Synthesis of bifunctional EDTA compounds with an ε-amino functionality linked through an amidoalkyl linker group derived from the previously described 4,5-diaminovaleric acid. Protection of the vicinal diamine with Boc groups and chain extension with monobenzyloxycarbonylalkylamines. Removal of the Boc groups and alkylation with bromoacetic acid (or esters), or further removal of the Z groups provides the amino EDTA compounds (8).
