Preparation and characterization of TiO2–SiO2 aerosil colloidal mixed dispersions

Abstract

TiO2 sol adsorption on SiO2–Aerosil has been carried out by three different methods to produce TiO2–SiO2 Aerosil sols having different mole ratios. Characterization of these particles by electrophoresis, spectroscopy and electron microscopy is presented. Corrosion of SiO2–Aerosil was not observed under photolytic conditions at pH 3 when loaded with 10 atom % TiO2.
