Reactions of 1-alkynes with trans-[ReCl(N2)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]: preparation of the vinylidene compounds trans-[ReCl([double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]CHR)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2](R = alkyl or aryl) and X-ray structure of trans-[ReCl([double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]CHPh)(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)2]

Abstract

The vinylidene complexes trans-[ReCl([double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]CHR)(dppe)2](1; R = Ph, Et, But, SiMe3, CO2Me, CO2Et, or C6H10OH-1; dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) have been prepared by reaction of trans-[ReCl(N2)(dppe)2] with an excess of the appropriate 1-alkyne (HC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR), in refluxing tetrahydrofuran (thf) or under tungsten-filament light (in thf or toluene). The X-ray structural analysis of (1; R = Ph) has been performed.
