Lewis base mediated rearrangements of alkali metal imides to η3-aza-allyl complexes: preparation and n.m.r. spectroscopic solution studies of [CH3CH2CH2C(H)[horiz bar, triple dot above]C(But)[horiz bar, triple dot above]N(H)·M·(HMPA)x]n(M = Li, x= 1; M = Na, x= 2)(HMPA = hexamethylphosphoramide)

Abstract

The η3-aza-allyl complexes [CH3CH2CH2[graphic omitted]·(HMPA)x]n[M = Li,x= 1, (1); M = Na, X= 2, (2)](HMPA = hexamethylphosphoramide) are formed in high yield when HMPA [O[double bond, length as m-dash]P(NMe2)3] is added to the metal imides, [Bun(But)C[double bond, length as m-dash]NM]n; complexes (1) and (2) have been fully characterised by elemental analyses, and by i.r. and n.m.r. (1H, 7Li, 13C) spectroscopies.
