Spatially controlled photocycloaddition of a clay-intercalated stilbazolium cation

Abstract

A stilbazolium cation included in clay interlayers undergoes an efficient and regioselective photocycloaddition to afford a syn head-to-tail dimer with suppression of the cistrans isomerization.
