Conversion of enol trifluoromethanesulphonates into α,β-unsaturated nitriles

Abstract

Reaction of enol trifluoromethanesulphonates with lithium cyanide in benzene (room temperature) in the presence of catalytic amounts of 12-crown-4 and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) provides good to excellent yields of the corresponding α,β-unsaturated nitriles.
