The HCNArF+ cation: prediction of a stable argon–nitrogen bonded species

Abstract

High-level ab initio calculations predict that the HCNArF+ cation is a stable argon–nitrogen bonded species with a binding energy (160 kJ mol–1) comparable to that of the (observed) krypton analogue, HCNKrF+(157 kJ mol–1); it should be experimentally accessible.
