Report on an experimental test of “recommendations for the conduct and interpretation of co-operative trials”

Abstract

The recommendations of a previous report by the Analytical Methods Committee, concerning the reporting of data from co-operative trials, were tested by means of a co-operative trial for the determination of nitrogen, copper and lead in foodstuffs and similar materials. Most of the recommendations were borne out by the results obtained in this trial. The results for the determination of nitrogen were satisfactory, but some of those for copper and lead were so deviant as to cause difficulties in interpreting the results.
