Adsorption theory of volume filling of micropores for structurally heterogeneous solids

Abstract

Presented here is a theory of volume filling of non-uniform micropores by gaseous adsorbates. An integral equation is applied to express the overall adsorption in terms of the distribution function that characterizes the structural heterogeneity of a microporous solid. General relationships are derived for calculating two quantities (namely the mean adsorption potential and the dispersion of the adsorption potential) that are associated with the micropore distribution. These equations are solved for the gamma function used to characterize the structural heterogeneity of a microporous solid.
