Elementary reactions of the SCl radical. Part 2.—Rate constants and mechanisms of the reactions of SCl with NO2, NO, O2, O(3P) and N (4S)

Abstract

Rate constants for the reactions of SCl radicals with NO2, NO, O2, O(3P) and N(4S) have been determined at 293 ± 2 K in a discharge-flow system using mass-spectrometric detection. The following results were obtained, with values of k in units of cm3 molecule–1s–1: SCl + NO2→ OSCl + NO;k1=(2.34 ± 0.12)×10–11(1), SCl + NO → products; k2 < 1× 10–14(2), SCl + O2→ products; k3⩽ 2×10–14(3), SCl + O(3P)→ So + Cl; k4=(1.2 ± 0.4)× 10–10(4), SCl + N(4S)→ NS + Cl;k5=(3.9 ± 1.1)× 10–11.(5)

The results are compared to those obtained for analogous reactions of SF, SH and CIO radicals.
