Fourier-transform infrared vibrational circular dichroism of simple carbohydrates

Abstract

Vibrational circular dichroism spectra have been measured in [2H6]DMSO solutions for simple carbohydrates in the 1650–800 cm–1 region. The links between the observed spectral features and cofigurational and conformational aspects of carbohydrates were investigated. Some useful correlations and difficulties involved in deciphering the spectral content are pointed out.
