The structures and synergistic catalyses of FeRu/Al2O3 catalysts derived from FexRu3–x(CO)12(x= 0, 1, 2, 3). Part 1.—The structures of Al2O3-supported FexRu3–x(CO)12 clusters

Abstract

The structure of FexRu3–x(CO)12(x= 0, 1, 2, 3) supported on Al2O3 have been studied by means of X-ray absorption fine structure, infrared, and ultraviolet–visible–diffuse reflectance spectroscopies and also by a temperature-programmed decomposition technique. The cluster framework was maintained in each supported cluster. The mixed-metal carbonyl clusters were attached to Al2O3 through surface oxygen atoms as in the case of Ru3(CO)12 and Fe3(CO)12.
