Electrochemical studies of hydrogen in ordered and disordered Pd3Mn alloys

Abstract

The solubility of hydrogen in ordered and disordered forms of Pd3Mn has been investigated by electrode potential and electrical resistance measurements following electrochemical introduction of hydrogen. Transmission electron microscopy has also been employed to examine these alloys. It was found that the solubility of hydrogen in the ordered state is higher than in the disordered state. Diffusion constants were measured and it was found that the diffusion constant in the disordered form was about a factor of four greater than that for the ordered form at 312 K.
