Abstract

The reaction of [MoH4(dppe)2](1; dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) with CO2 in benzene under irradiation by light yielded [MoH(O2CH)(dppe)2](2), which was characterised spectroscopically. Complex (2) is slowly protonated by HCO2H to give the known cationic complex [MoH2(O2CH)(dppe)2][HCO2].
