Synthesis of selenium-containing binaphthyls and their application to the asymmetric ring-opening of cyclohexene oxide

Abstract

Three novel selenium-containing binaphthyl compounds (13) have been synthesized in optically active form and applied to the asymmetric ring-opening reaction of cyclohexene oxide (4), resulting in enantiomeric excesses of between 16 and 50%.
