Co-ordination complexes of polyoxomolybdates with a hexanuclear core: synthesis and structural characterization of (NBun4)2[Mo6O18(NNMePh)]

Abstract

Reaction of [MoCl4(NNMePh)] with (Bun4N)2[Mo2O7] yields a co-ordination complex with the hexanuclear oxomolybdate core, (Bun4N)2[Mo6O18(NNMePh)]; the reaction is general with appropriate precursors in providing a ready entry into the class of co-ordination compounds of the types [Mo5O18(ML)]nā€“ and [W5O18(ML)]nā€“, with M = Mo or W and L = NNR2, NR, or N.
