On the relationship between crystallographic disorder and solid state dynamic behaviour in [Fe3(CO)12] and [Co4(CO)12]

Abstract

The fluxional behaviour shown by [Fe3(CO)12] and [Co4(CO)12] in the solid state can be explained in terms of small librations involving both the encapsulated metal polyhedron and the carbonyl envelope.
