Monohalogenobenzoylhydrazones as ligands in extraction-atomic absorption spectrometry

Abstract

The extractability of some complexes of monohalogenobenzoylhydrazones with CdII, CoII, CuII, MnII, NiII, PbII and ZnII, and the application of the extraction systems studied to the pre-concentration and determination of these elements were investigated. The effect of pH, shaking time and the masking ability of EDTA, citric acid and tartaric acid was examined. The composition of the extracted complexes was found to be 1:1 (ratio of metal ion to ligand) using the equilibrium shift method. These extraction systems were applied successfully to the determination of Co, Cu, Ni and Zn in high-purity lead salts.
