High-performance liquid chromatographic separation and synchronous fluorimetric determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils

Abstract

A method for the selective determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils has been developed by combining high-performance liquid chromatography and synchronous fluorimetry (SF) with a single valve-switching system. The spectral complexity arising from the coexisting compounds can be eliminated by the proposed SF method, and pyrene, benzo[a]anthracene, benzo[k]fluoranthene, perylene, benzo[a]pyrene and benzo[ghi]perylene have been determined in soils.
