Stereochemistry of the tetrahydroisopimaric acids: X-ray structure of methyl 8α-isopimaran-18-oate

Abstract

A second, previously unreported tetrahydro derivative has been isolated from the high pressure hydrogenation product of methyl isopimarate. Its structure is established as methyl 8α-isopimaran-18-oate by X-ray crystallography and 1H n.m.r. spectroscopy.
