Determination of manganese, calcium, magnesium and potassium in pine (Pinus caribaea) needle samples by flame atomic absorption spectrometry with slurry sample introduction

Abstract

A method is described for the determination of Mn, Ca, Mg and K in suspensions of leaf-tissue samples (Pinus caribaea) by atomic absorption spectrometry. Special attention has been paid to sample preparation which is the step most vulnerable to contaminants. The precision varied between 0.1 and 4% for these elements. The results obtained with the described method are comparable with those obtained with standard procedures.
