Relationship between detection limits and mechanisms in inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry
Abstract
Detection limits and optical properties of ionic lines in inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry are related, and from this relationship, two temperatures can be calculated, one for an energy sum below 16 eV (7900 K) and the other above (10 000 K). The experiments carried out confirm the change in behaviour of lines around 16 eV and therefore the possible role of a charge-transfer process from the argon ions.
