Multiplet structure in coupled spin systems containing high-spin nuclei

Abstract

Predicted multiplet bandshapes of spin-1/2 nuclei scalar-coupled to nuclei efficiently relaxed by quadrupolar interactions have been calculated for a broad range of spectral splittings and relaxation rates. Extension of these calculations to include other relaxation mechanisms reveals that relatively weak chemical shift anisotropy interactions may play an unexpectedly important role in determining the multiplet structure of spin-1/2 nuclei coupled to high-spin nuclei.
