Internal pressures, temperatures of maximum density and related properties of water and deuterium oxide
Abstract
Procedures are described for calcuating internal pressures of water and deuterium oxide at given temperatures and pressures. The dependences on pressure of temperatures of maximum density are described using quadratic equations. Similar equations describe the dependences on pressure of the temperature at which internal pressures are zero. Equilibrium and configurational internal pressures are identified, the latter being linked to reorganisation of hydrogen bonds in water and in deuterium oxide.
