{Ag52-S–(CH2)3–NHMe2]32-S–(CH2)3–NMe2]3}2+, the first thiolate complex of a metal with trigonal bipyramido-M5-trigonal prismo-S6 polyhedral stereochemistry

Abstract

The synthesis and structure of {Ag52-S–(CH2)3–NHMe2]32-S–(CH2)3–NMe2]3}(ClO4)2; the Ag5S6 core of the cage cation provides the only known case of an [Mx(SR)y] aggregate that can be described as a trigonal bipyramid of metal atoms enclosed within a regular trigonal prism of doubly bridging thiolate ligands.
