Formation of a heterobimetallic cyclohexa-1,4-dienyl-hydrido-complex from an acetylide and buta-1,3-diene: crystal structure of [(p-MeC6H4C[triple bond, length half m-dash]C)Pt(µ-dppm)2-(µ-H)Ir(CO){C[double bond, length half m-dash]C(C6H3Me)CH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CHCH2}][BF4](dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2)

Abstract

[(p-MeC6H4C[triple bond, length half m-dash]C)2Pt(µ-dppm)2Ir(CO)][BF4](dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2) reacts with buta-1,3-diene to give the title compound in which a p-tolylacetylide ligand from platinum and a buta-1,3-diene on iridium have combined together to give the novel ligand in the title compound; isoprene and 1,1,4,4-tetradeuteriobuta-1,3-diene react similarly.
