Synthesis and structural characterisation of [TlPt3(CO)3(PCy3)3][Rh(η-C8 H12)Cl2](Cy = cyclohexyl), a tetrahedral Pt3Tl cluster compound

Abstract

The first example of a thallium–platinum metal cluster cation has been synthesised from TlI salts and [Pt3(CO)3(PCy3)3](Cy = cyclohexyl); in [TlPt3(CO)3(PCy3)3]+ the Tl atom caps the Pt3 triangle with Pt–Tl (average)= 3.038(1)Å.
