The photolysis of a cyclopolysilane system containing a heteroatom, hexaneopentyltrisilaoxetane; evidence for the formation of a tetraneopentyldisilaoxirane

Abstract

Hexaneopentyltrisilaoxetane (1) was synthesised and characterised; irradiation of (1)(λmax. 250 nm) in a hydrocarbon solvent afforded tetraneopentyldisilaoxirane (2)(λmax. 300 nm) with extrusion of dineopentylsilanediyl (3).
