Gas-liquid chromatographic and ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatographic determination of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and bromhexine hydrochloride in pharmaceuticals

Abstract

Gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) and high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methods were developed for the determination of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and bromhexine hydrochloride in pharmaceuticals. A reversed-phase HPLC technique was used after ion pairing for separation in the HPLC method. The results were comparable to those given by official methods for single dosage forms. The accuracy of the proposed methods for both components in combined dosage forms was confirmed by recovery studies.
