Properties of the liquid crystals formed by certain 4-alkoxy-N-(2-phenanthrylmethylene)anilines
Abstract
The liquid crystal transition temperatures of twelve 4-alkoxy-N-(2-phenanthrylmethylene)anilines are reported and compared with those of corresponding members of similar homologous series of azomethines. Differences in liquid crystal thermal stability between comparable azomethines in which the –CHN– linkage is reversed are discussed.
