Atomic absorption spectrometric determination of the elemental contamination of plant material

Abstract

The applicability of atomic absorption spectrometry to the monitoring of the concentrations of elements in different plant material situated in the vicinity of an enamel factory was studied. The reproducibility of sample preparation and analysis, the concentration change with distance from the emission source and the reaction of different plant materials to the pollutants were evaluated. A correlation was made between the pollutant load and the raw materials utilised in the factory's production cycle.
