Zeolites treated with silicon tetrachloride vapour. Part 2.—Sorption studies

Abstract

Adsorption isotherms for nitrogen, water, n-butane, isobutane, benzene and cyclohexane have been measured on a series of samples of zeolite Y dealuminated with silicon tetrachloride vapour at various temperatures. Differential heats of adsorption, differential entropies, activity coefficients and virial coefficients have been calculated from the isotherms. The nature of the intracrystalline porosity and the status of the sorbed molecules and extra-framework aluminium have been considered in the light of the results.
