Inner-sphere reorganization energy of ions in solution using the ion–dipole orbiting potential

Abstract

A comparison of theoretical and experimental inner-sphere reorganization energies of ions in aqueous solution is presented. The theoretical results have been obtained using the ion–dipole orbiting potential and the adiabatic invariance proposed by Bates. The experimental results are those obtained from the vibrational spectroscopic data and those acquired from Delahay's photoemission work. The agreement between theory and experiment is excellent.
