Photoinduced lnsertion of sulphur bridges into a CrSCr multiple bond, and X-ray crystal structure of (η5-C5H5)2Cr2(µ-S)2(µ-S2)

Abstract

Photoinduced insertion of sulphur ligands into the CrSCr multiple bond of (η⁵-C₅H₅)₂Cr₂(CO)₄S provides a novel route to the new complex (η⁵-C₅H₅)₂Cr₂S₄, which has one bidendate µ-S₂ and two µ-S bridges symmetrically placed between the (η⁵-C₅H₅)Cr moieties.
