The reaction of Li[PBut2] with SnCl2 or PbCl2 in tetrahydrofuran (thf) solution affords the isostreuctural ‘ate’ complexes, [Li(thf){E(PBut2)3}](E = Sn or Pb), both of which have been characterised by X-ray crystallography.
