A new cyclam providing the first example unequivocally proven by X-ray crystallography of a pendent co-ordinated pyridyl group

Abstract

A new class of 14-membered tetra-azamacrocycle (cyclam) functionalised with a pendent pyridine ligand is reported; the X-ray crystal structure of its NiII complex (7a) provides the first unequivocal example of co-ordination of the pyridyl side-arm to the centrally placed metal ion.
