A platinum(0)–platinum(II) complex formed by ligand-induced reductive elimination of hydrogen

Abstract

Reaction of depm (depm = Et2PCH2PEt2) with [Pt2H2(µ-H)(µ-depm)2]+, –90 °C give [Pt2H2(µ-H)(µ-depm)3]+, which decomposes at –70 °C to give the novel Pt(0)–Pt(II) mixed oxidation state complex [Pt2H(µ-depm)3]+ and dihydrogen.
